Lakewood, the golf course that hosted 26 New Orleans Opens, opened for public play on February 28, 2009 after undergoing a $9 million renovation. Nestled among beautiful Louisiana cypress and oaks, Lakewood promises to be one of the South's premier golf destinations.
The New Orleans Firefighters Pension Fund purchased Lakewood Country Club in 2003 with plans to develop the surrounding property into an upscale golf resort including golf villas, a 4-star luxury hotel, condominiums and more in the next few years.
