New Orleans, LA - Eastover Golf & Country Club reopens after being destroyed by hurricane and flood.

Eastover Golf & Country Club, which was under twelve feet of floodwater for several weeks and destroyed by the flood following Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005, has reopened nine-holes while the second nine is under construction. Golf course architect Joe Lee has overseen the rebuilding of his original design. Other Lee designed courses include Cog Hill, located outside of Chicago, and The Blue Monster Course at Doral Resort in Miami. 

A special $45 greens fee is being offered for play on the nine hole course, which is played twice. The second nine holes will be opened for play in October of 2007.

Rental Car in New Orleans - Need one or not?

If you are planning to stay in the French Quarter / Downtown area and only playing a round or two, you can get by without a rental car by using taxi cabs. Courses convenient by taxi are Stonebridge, Timberlane, English Turn, TPC, and Chateau.   If you want to play several courses, especially some of the premium courses, which are located across Lake Ponchartrain, then a rental car is recommended. Keep in mind that there are daily parking fees at most hotels.   In either case, ground transportation to and from the hotel to the courses via van or mini bus can also be arranged with your package.
