Bayou Barriere Golf Club is located 15 minutes from downtown New Orleans. This club has three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. These are some of the best public courses and have been a staple in the New Orleans vicinity for more than thirty years.

The easiest course is the First Course which has many short par fours. The most difficult course is the Second Course. There are water hazards that come into play on several holes, and many out-of-bounds stakes lining other holes. The Third Course is interesting, because it tees off from the levy. All three courses have tree-lined fairways that are generous, and their greens are medium-sized. Slope from the Men's tee box is 124 and from the tips is 132.

Rental Car in New Orleans - Need one or not?

If you are planning to stay in the French Quarter / Downtown area and only playing a round or two, you can get by without a rental car by using taxi cabs. Courses convenient by taxi are Stonebridge, Timberlane, English Turn, TPC, and Chateau.

 

If you want to play several courses, especially some of the premium courses, which are located across Lake Ponchartrain, then a rental car is recommended. Keep in mind that there are daily parking fees at most hotels.
