 The Oaks
Golf Club
From the same developers as La Quinta, PGA West, Kiawah Island Resort and Oak
Tree. Host course to the Nike Tour. Featured in the August 98 issue of Golf
Digest, and the September 98 issue of Golf Magazine.
This course, which opened February 14,
1998, is carved through the timberlands and around the natural wetlands
providing an experience unlike any other on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The
greens are relatively large, averaging 5,400 square feet. Bunkers are
prevalent on all greens. Water comes into play on four holes. The fairways are
very tight, averaging about 40 yards in width. They are lined with majestic
pines and oaks. The signature hole is #7, a 173-yard, par 3 with a water
hazard between the tee and the green. To further make this hole a challenge, a
sand bunker is situated between the water and the front of the peanut-shaped
green.
This course, surrounded by tall
pines in a woodsy setting, measures 6,885 yards from the tips.
Slope Rating
